FRIENDS OF THE DARTMOUTH LIBRARIES presents: Living Sustainably
Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries; Thursday, March 27, 6:30 p.m at the Southworth Library.
Learn about Living Sustainably with Desa Van Laarhoven, Executive Director & Co-founder of
Round the Bend Farm (RTB), a 115-acre working farm and educational non-profit in Dartmouth.
Sharing research, best practices, and personal experience, Ms. Van Laarhoven will discuss
simple, everyday actions that can make a difference and improve the current and future health of
our local environment and community.
Ms. Van Laarhoven has served as RTB’s Executive Director for over a decade. In that time,
RTB has nearly tripled its organic farming acreage, served as the launching pad for several agri-
businesses and nonprofit community services, and opened a beautiful, sustainably constructed
learning center and event space. Prior to her RTB role, Ms. Van Laarhoven was Executive
Director of the Marion Institute, where she oversaw root-cause solutions-based projects and
programs focused on sustainability and social justice.
