The Met’s beloved production of Puccini’s timeless tragedy returns to cinemas, with soprano Asmik Grigorian making her highly anticipated Met debut as Cio-Cio-San, alongside tenor Jonathan Tetelman as the callous American sailor Pinkerton. Xian Zhang conducts.

Giacomo Puccini’s MADAMA BUTTERFLY, a heartbreaking story of a Geisha named Cio-San (Asmik Grigorian) whose life is brought to ruin after being betrayed by a lover, comes to The Met: Live in HD series at the tail end of the season. This last, but certainly not least, stage production will have something for everyone, including romance, drama, and action.
