The Genius of Michelangelo
Tuesdays (January 23-February 27), 11 a.m.-noon
Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Tuesdays (January 23-February 27) from 11 a.m.-noon for the 33nd Annual Molly Little Film Series which will focus on the genius of Michelangelo. Attendees will learn about the artist and some of his most important works in a series of video classes produced by The Great Courses and taught by Professor William E Wallace of Washington University in St. Louis. The series will be presented in the Haskell Room at Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street.
On six successive Tuesday mornings (starting January 23), participants will explore the following topics in two 30-minute videos during each session: Who Was Michelangelo?/Artist and Aristocrat – Michelangelo’s World (January 23); An Unconventional Beginning/
• Michelangelo’s Youth and Early Training (January 30); The Bacchus and the Pietà/The Return to Florence and the David (February 6); The Sistine Chapel/The Sistine Chapel, Part 2 (February 13); The Sistine Chapel, Part 3/A Story of Marble (February 20); and Piety and Pity – The Florentine Pietà/The Rondanini Pietà and the Late Poetry (February 27). Snow days will be March 12 and March 19.
